Melanie Allen is a production designer working across film and television.

Melanie Allen is a production designer working across film and television. Most recently, she designed a contemporary reimagining of Agatha Christie’s Tommy & Tuppence for BritBox, due to transmit globally in Autumn 2026. Her work also includes the 2026 Sundance-premiering feature Extra Geography, directed by Molly Manners, alongside Extraordinary (Seasons 1 & 2) for Disney and Anatomy of a Scandal for Netflix.

Melanie gravitates towards character-based scripts in which design is integral to the storytelling. Her work is research-led and shaped by a background in Interior Design, creating spaces that feel authentic while maintaining a strong visual identity. She is particularly interested in the space between realism and stylisation.

Melanie enjoys building cohesive art department teams, fostering long-term creative collaborations, and is committed to mentoring emerging talent entering the industry.

Extra Geography

Based on Rose Tremain’s short story, Extra Geography follows two teenage girls in an English boarding school as they grapple with all the challenges of girlhood: friendship, boys, studies, growing up and their summer project, “to fall in love”.

Directed by Molly Manners, produced by Brock Media, with funding secured from Film 4 and the Yorkshire Content Fund.

Premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in the World Dramatic Cinema category.
